Drug companies responded poorly to requests for information from doctors in Pakistan

Previous studies have shown that drug companies often provide inadequate information on their drugs in developing countries. On p 547 Hafeez and Mirza report a study in which 24 doctors in five Pakistani cities responded to offers in promotional brochures for further information on request. Of 152 requests to 45 companies only 39 (26%) received a response. Only six of the responses met the WHO criteria for optimal drug information.
