Treatments for shoulder complaints do not show long term effects

In 1994-5 Winter et al showed in a randomised controlled trial of treating shoulder complaints in general practice that at 11 weeks steroid injections were better than manipulation or physiotherapy for "synovial" complaints while manipulation was better than physiotherapy for shoulder girdle complaints. On p 1395 they reassess these results after examining the patients two to three years after the original study. They found no differences in the numbers with current complaints or complaining of not feeling cured between any of the treatment groups for either synovial or shoulder girdle complaints.
