Benefits are likely from vitamin B-6 in premenstrual syndrome

Little commercial or scientific interest has been shown in the use of vitamin B-6 as a treatment for premenstrual syndrome, and only limited conclusions on efficacy can be drawn from published studies. The government has recently highlighted unproved efficacy and complications from use of vitamin B-6 at high dosages as a rationale for reducing access to this vitamin. On p 1375 the meta-analysis by Wyatt et al highlights the poor quality of existing studies and shows the need for high quality large trials to make a definitive statement on the use of vitamin B-6 for the treatment of premenstrual syndrome.
