AAFP core educational guidelines for medical genetics

The American Academy of Family Physicians has developed a series
of recommended core educational or curriculum guidelines for family
practice residents. One of these covers medical genetics. The
guidelines include topics on attitudes, knowledge, skills, implementation, and resources required of primary care physicians in
the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of genetic disorders. They
were developed in cooperation with the American College of Medical
Genetics, the Association of Professors of Human and Medical Genetics,
the Association of Departments of Family Medicine, the Association of
Family Practice Residency Directors, and the Society of Teachers of
Family Medicine. They are available online at
