Group publishes guidance to ensure safe and ethical research in China and Europe

An alliance of leading doctors and scientists has moved to stamp out unethical and potentially dangerous practice in burgeoning and cutting edge areas of biomedical research and development, such as stem cell research, in China and Europe.
The nine member Bionet Expert Group (www.bionet-china.org), which comprises doctors, ethicists, legal experts, and political and social scientists, has published draft guidance containing a raft of 30 recommendations in a bid to guarantee the safe and ethical treatment of patients involved in research collaborations between China and Europe.
The draft recommendations for best practice in the ethical governance of biological and biomedical research collaborations between Chinese and European scientists is the result of five workshops and conferences held across China between 2007 and 2009.
