US continues to bar entry to people with HIV: Paul Thorn, a project director for the Tuberculosis Survival Project and a UK citizen, says he was denied a visa to speak at a conference in the United States because of his HIV status. Earlier in the month 60 Canadians were barred for the same reason when they sought to attend a conference on housing for people living with HIV. The Obama administration has yet to change the policy.
German doctors must abide by living wills: The German parliament has passed a law saying that doctors have to follow the living wills of terminally ill patients and stop life supporting measures if this has been requested. In a vote of conscience MPs favoured the most liberal draft of the law, intended to clarify morally ambiguous situations.
