Report questions motives behind "patient choice": Moves to give patients a choice in their treatment are motivated more by a desire to reduce waiting lists and improve efficiency than to put their interests first, says a report from the King's Fund, a London based health research body. Polish health chief is sacked: Aleksander Nauman, chief of Poland's National Health Fund, has been dismissed over allegations of accepting bribes during his previous tenure as deputy health minister. He took the bribes in exchange for registering an anticancer drug from Romania while holding up the registration of a similar Polish drug for more than a year.
