Payment in kind finances refresher course

EDITOR,--Maureen Baker and colleagues outline the need for a re-entry course for vocationally trained doctors who are not currently working as principals. Such a course has already been run in my practice and was enjoyed by all concerned, but no funds are currently available for this type of postgraduate training. This minor hurdle was overcome when our mature trainee offered to do several locum surgeries after the end of her course--a much appreciated gesture.
