The BMJ Interview: Sir Liam Donaldson

Hear how England's chief medical officer answered questions from the nation's doctors

Sir Liam Donaldson has been the chief medical officer of England since 1998. He was both applauded and viewed with suspicion after publishing the first in depth study into "problem doctors". He oversaw the audit of Harold Shipman's practice. Most recently he compiled the report Good Doctors, Safer Patients, which recommended sweeping changes to the regulation of medical practice.

Award winning broadcaster Sue MacGregor is a former presenter of BBC Radio 4's flagship Today programme. An experienced political interviewer, she has been described by the Times newspaper as: "Simply the best female presenter radio has produced."
