Advisers for the BMJ

Notes

The BMJis looking for new advisers to help select material for its information management section, "Information in Practice." Applications are invited from doctors, researchers, and information scientists to join our selection committee, which meets approximately once a month to discuss submissions for the section and commission ideas. Applicants should ideally have a background in clinical practice or research and should be interested in using information management to enhance patient care. Experience of peer review is helpful but not essential.

Applicants must be able to attend meetings at BMA House on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings. Each meeting lasts about one and a half hours, and papers are distributed and read in advance. Members are paid sessional fees for reading and attending meetings.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed and those appointed will be subject to mutual review after three months. Please apply by letter and enclose a curriculum vitae and up to three relevant publications.

Applications should be addressed to:

Dr Alison Tonks, assistant editor,
BMJ,
BMA House,
Tavistock Square,
London WC1H 9JR.

email: atonks@compuserve.com

The closing date for applications is Friday 13 February 1998.
