    Fluoridation was a controversial topic even before Kubrick's Base Commander Ripper railed against “the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids” in the 1964 film Dr Strangelove (www.indelibleinc.com/kubrick/films/strangelove/).
