Representatives of the United Kingdom's 35 000 GPs have expressed their disappointment at some of the proposals in The NHS Plan for England (5 August, p 317).

At its meeting last week the General Practitioners Committee condemned the proposals for victimising singlehanded GPs—the government plans to introduce new contractual quality standards for singlehanded practices—and for resource allocation, which it believes will have a major impact on the distribution of doctors.
