    EDITOR,--Like M Zenz and T Zenz,1 we appreciate the recent paper by Francois Larue and colleagues2 for opening up a discussion on the undertreatment of cancer pain. Perhaps, however, the topic should be referred to as maltreatment of cancer pain.

    Zenz and Zenz make the point that legislation for uniformity in the European Union could threaten the freedom to prescribe strong opioids in Britain. The implicit assumption here is that regulation keeps opioid prescribing down and …
